The North Carolina House of Representatives killed a bill that would have made Christianity the official religion of the state. John Celok with the Huffington Post wrote that on April 4, House Speaker Thom Tillis announced that no vote would be done on the bill that tried to work around the First Amendment.

In response to the official religion bill being killed in North Carolina, a national Huffington Post and YouGov poll found mixed results on whether American adults wanted an official religion. The Huffington Post said the poll asked if American adults would approve of an official religion in their state and in the U.S.

A Mormon temple is being constructed eight miles away from the Vatican. Jeff Tyson with the Global Post wrote that this Mormon temple will be the first in the Mediterranean region and  gave Italian Mormons reactions to it. A website for Mormon temples anticipate the temple to be finished in 2014.
